Knowing God PDF Print E-mail

"How do I know God personally?" is one of the most frequently asked questions for people around the world.  We hope the information provided here might help you connect with the God of this universe who loves you and knows you by name!

Of primary importance is to believe there is truly a great God who created all things. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

God has revealed himself to all people through nature, the Bible, and most clearly through the person of Jesus Christ.  In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  In Jeremiah 29:13 God says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  Therefore, the first step toward knowing God personally is for us to desire to know Him and to be willing to seek Him with all our heart.

Secondly, the personal relationship God desires to have with us has been hindered by our sinful nature and actions.  Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Jesus died on the cross in our place to take the penalty for our sins upon himself so we might be saved.  He also rose from the dead and is alive today.

John 1:12 says, “Yet to all who received Him (Jesus), to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”  If we desire to be reconciled with God we need to admit we are a sinner and have fallen short of God’s standards.  We need to confess our sins to God and repent and invite Jesus to enter our life and to be our Savior.  We need to invite Him to reign over our life and care for us.  If we pray with a sincere heart, we will come to know God personally and become not only His children but also His friend.  In John 15:14 Jesus says, “You are my friends if you do what I command.”

After we have invited Jesus into our life through faith and become His children we can continue to get to know Him better We here at ECB invite you to discover the joy of knowing God personally.  If you have additional questions, please call the church office (02-653-0521). We would love to share with you the way to know and grow in your walk with God! through prayer, reading the Bible, worshipping Him, spending time with other Christians in various church functions, and through loving others as God has loved us.
